It's been a long time...

It has been a long time since my last post. A lot has happened over the past 3 years and I figure a life update is warranted:

• After I graduated in 2016, I started teaching at a smaller high school in the Northern Cape in 2017.
• This was not a fun time. I struggled to find common ground with many of my colleagues and unfortunately the values of the management team at that school at that time, did not correspond to my own.  
• I learned a very valuable lesson - my happiness and sanity are important!!
• In January of 2019 I moved to another city and started teaching at my new school.
• I am now a teacher at a high school in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. 
• I have taught a wide variety of subjects (Life orientation, Mathematical Literacy, Mathematics, Economics and Economics and Management Sciences)
• I teach grades 8 tot 12 (14-18 year olds)
• I am planning on pursuing my postgraduate studies in 2020
• I am also in charge of our school's drama club. Yikes. 

I am only now finding my feet in the education system, finally starting to feel like I'm in control and know what to do in most situations. I hope to make this blog a regular part of my week. Most of the time I will simply be reminiscing over the past week and the lessons learned, but sometimes I might venture into unknown territories. We'll see how it goes.
